| 説明 | Replacing older culverts in large road fills can often be just as unpredictable, you never know what you’re going to find until you start digging. It’s not unusual to find logs or remnants of old railroad trestles buried in a fill. On a recent project on ODF’s North Cascade District an aging culvert was slated to be replaced with new pipe with 3.5 times the flow capacity. The Project Manager Jim Stuart and the contractor Dewey Stokes were prepared to find old logs in the fill but instead found an SUV sized boulder. It took much wrestling with two pieces of equipment but Stokes was finally able to roll the boulder far enough out of the way to complete the project.
