| 説明 | Passport Photo of Porter Charlton (born Omaha, NE 21 Sep 1888) who confessed to murdering his wife at Lake Como, Italy in 1910. Charlton was extradited to Italy in 1913 and subsequently convicted, in 1916, by an Italian court.He was sentenced, essentially, to time served awaiting extradition and trial, plus 29 days. He returned to the US a free man in 1916. In later years he returned to Europe and worked, surprisingly, for several agencies of the US Government, including the Postal Express Service (1919) and the American Graves Registration Service (1922).On November 21, 1933 he checked into the Excelsior Hotel in Bayonne, France under an assumed name. On November 24th, he took his own life. |
