Moore died suddenly at his home on Wisconsin street, about nine o’clock this morning of heart trouble. He had been troubled with it for several years. While he had been ailing for several weeks he had not been bed fast and this morning are his breakfast at table with the family as usual. He complained soon after of a pain in his heart and neighbors and Dr. Woodard were called. While the doctor was giving him medicine he expired on a couch in the parlor. Mr. Moore was sixty years of age. He was born in Blairstown, Pennsylvania, April 7, 1842, and during the civil war served three years in the Pennsylvania reserves. He came to Neodesha seven years ago from Earnam, Nebraska. Of late years he has been a pumper for the oil company but last spring was made the day city marshal by Mayor Rogue. His heart trouble compelled him to resign that office, however, and for a few weeks he had been working in the oil field at Chanute with his son Herbert. His breath failed him there and a week or so ago he came home. He leaves a widow and eight living children, two daughters, at Farnam, Rolland at Port Arthur, Texas, Herbert at Chanute and May, Vivian, Bertha and Harry at home. The funeral arrangements have not yet been made. Mr. Moore was a member of the A. O. U. W. and carried $2,000 insurance in that other which will be paid to his widow. He was a respected man and his death came as a shock to his many friends. |
