説明I had a thorough and multi-day tour of the elevators of the Sheraton in Toronto. There were 4 banks of elevators: Queen Tower, Richmond Tower, the glass elevator in the lobby, and some other one next to the shopping concourse that I think I maybe never should have been in. The "Queen Tower" elevators went from the guest floors to L or Concourse. The "GM" floor or grand mezzanine was where the conference sessions were. You could get to it from the Lobby or the 2nd floor I think from the Richmond Tower. Or maybe it was from the Queen Tower. I have forgotten. The glass elevator went from C or Concourse (which was also B1) to B2 (basement or 2 Below). Conference registration and the ballroom and main events were in B2. To get form my room to the main level: Queen Tower to C. Glass elevator from C(B1) to B2. That isn't bad, but it also isn't hte way I was told to do it the first 3 times I tried to get there. I was told Queen tower to Lobby, Richmond tower to B1, B1 to B2 in the glass elevator. I was also wrongly directed to the shopping/service elevators more than once to get to b2. To get from the registration/ballroom to the conference sessions: Glass elevator to C. Queen Tower to 2 (or maybe L would have worked, but staff told me to go to 2) Go through a lot of hallways to Richmond Tower. Go from 2 to GM. Go down a ramp. Take a (locked, unusable) lift to the secondary GM level to where the Willow Rooms were. Have fun with that. The first few hotel employees I spoke with for the GM lift told me that when I wanted to go up or down it, I could find a service phone to call Emergency Medical Services of the hotel to get someone with a lift key. It is Not their Policy to leave the lift unlocked because of liability or if kids play with it or if you break the lift. After some extended diplomacy by me and mike hoye and other toronto site hosts the lift was left partially unlocked and was partially usable. I was able to get to the last 20 minutes of the "Cultural Perspectives" panel. Irony...One lesson here is to think through the paths for ALL attendees of your event. Then, label those paths with signs. Another lesson is to establish with hotel staff beforehand that the tiny inter-level lifts are unlocked and fully working.
