| 説明 | 2221 Kalorama Road NW in Washington, D.C., in the United States. This is the residence of the French ambassador. It was designed by Jules Henri de Sibour in 1910 in the Tudor Revival and Jacobean Revival styles of architecture. The floor plan is allegedly the same as that of 2125 Kalorama Road NW next door (which is the Portugese ambassadorial residence).Mining millionaire William W. Lawrence was its first occupant. He sold it to mining robber-baron John Hays Hammond. The Embassy of France purchased the building in 1936. The structure served as the embassy until a new chancery was constructed at 4101 Reservoir Road NW in 1985.This residence is a contributing property to the Sheridan-Kalorama Historic District. |
